Purpose

Today I contemplate the depth of life…
How at one end of the earth someone sees their first sunrise and on the other someone breathes their last,
And in-between,
A pause, a thought, a question…

“Why on earth am I here?”

A question that our minds can not begin to fathom but that our hearts constantly ask.

Why are we here?
We all seek purpose. We seek to give meaning to our actions and we live our lives with our eyes so focused on the final destination that we sometimes miss the whole journey, the space between the beginning and the end.

We are born seeking purpose, a feeling of belonging, a feeling of accomplishment, and in that search we often get lost because instead of being mindful, our minds are simply full of what could be and we lose track of “what is”.

And you might be wondering now, “what is?”

Well, “you are”. You are a world of opportunities yet to be discovered. The creator created you with the ability to create, and He put passions and desires within you that are burning and rising within you.
So if you’re lost and wondering “why am I here?”
Look within yourself, whatever sets your soul and being on fire? Chase it like it was your last day on earth because that is your purpose, that is your calling, that is “you”.

So why do we get lost?
I’m sure we have all had moments in our lives when nothing was making sense, where we felt stuck and we cried out to God but felt like our cries were bootless and we were screaming to deaf heavens.
But we could not silence the endless cries and whispers within ourselves that told us “there has got to be something more to this thing called life”.

So we wait on God and send our prayers heaven’s way desperately awaiting an answer, a nudge, a whisper, a gentle breeze like the one Elijah felt;
Forgetting that the breeze was a reminder and not an actual calling. So, if your prayer is for what you are supposed to pursue in life maybe you’re asking the wrong question.

Perhaps your question should be to yourself in the form “what did I forget or overlook?” Or “who am I? What was I created with?” Because the Bible says that God has given us His word [2 Timothy 3:17] “so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
You have everything you need at your disposal, so you get lost when you lose sight of the “stone tablet” if we can call it that. You lose sight of every good work, you lose sight of the purpose behind those works.

The word that says “all things were created by Him and for Him” [Colossians 1:16]
“For in Him we live and move and exist [that is, in Him we actually have our being], as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’
[Acts 17:28 AMP]

So consider this a gentle breeze, a reminder to “Write the vision And engrave it plainly on [clay] tablets…”
[Habakkuk 2:2 AMP]

Write the vision and engrave it on your heart, so you may never lose sight of why you are here and for whom you live.
